Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge now on TAG Heuer time

The Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge is proud to announce that iconic Swiss watchmaker, TAG Heuer, will be the Official Timekeeper of the race in 2017.

In November, the event celebrates its 21stanniversary. It has grown into the biggest timed cycling race in Gauteng, as well as the second largest timed cycle race in the world. Held every year on the third Sunday in November, also known as Cycle Challenge Sunday, the race attracts in excess of 20 000 riders, each pushing their limits on this challenging course through the streets and highways of Johannesburg.

TAG Heuer will now be keeping track of time, while riders can focus on giving their best on the day.

The Swiss brand, known for their accessible luxury and innovation, will also be the Official Timekeeper of the Mountain Bike race, taking place in the preceding weekend, 12 November 2017.

With a mix of racing elites, amateurs and weekend warriors, all pushing their limits on the day with new records or just completing the challenging course, this is Joburg’s ride. “We know that riders enter for all sorts of reasons, from improving their health, to Riding for a Purpose, to chasing a personal best, but what all of them have in common, is an intention to cross that finish line,” said Telkom 947 race director, Tanya Harford.

“The sense of reward of finishing makes it all worth it. Receiving your finish time is so important in acknowledging this achievement and we are thrilled that a brand with the potency and gravitas of TAG Heuer, will be the ones to share this special moment with our cyclists,” she said.
